2020 Board Slate

The AWM Nominations Committee has put forth the 2020 AWM Board of Directors Slate of Candidates. Please read below to learn more about the directors proposed to join the AWM Board of Directors. To vote for the slate, please use the link in your email from headquarters or email info@allwomeninmedia.org for the link.  Please cast your vote by February 14, 2020.

NEW DIRECTORS PROPOSED FOR THE SLATE OF CANDIDATES

The following candidates are proposed to begin serving on the AWM Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning in February:

Katina Arnold, Vice President, Corporate Communications, ESPN

Katina Arnold, vice president, corporate communications, oversees communications for ESPN’s business initiatives, including affiliate sales and marketing, national advertising sales, research, international – which includes 48 television networks and multiple platforms worldwide – and ESPN’s digital media assets including ESPN.com, WatchESPN, ESPN3, ESPN Mobile and other new media initiatives that develop across the company.  She assumed this role in March of 2006.  Arnold was given oversight of internal communications and the multimedia teams in January of 2011. The company’s intranet site, In The Know (ITK), was launched in June 2008 and focuses on employee engagement through timely information concerning company developments and accomplishments.  

Abby Auerbach, Executive Vice President, Chief Communications Officer, TVB

Abby Auerbach is Executive Vice President, Chief Communications Officer at TVB, the national trade association representing local broadcast television. She joined TVB in June 2000 and was named Chief Communications Officer in February 2014. Ms. Auerbach works with TVB’s CEO and board on the strategic direction of the company and has direct responsibility for advocacy, public relations, corporate communications, events/conferences and TVB.org. She spearheaded the industry’s eBusiness initiatives for over a decade and lead the creation of automated TV platform ePort. At TVB, Ms. Auerbach directs local broadcast TV initiatives such as marketing campaign “We Get Results”, the political advocacy campaign “We Get Voters” and member communications program, “TV News Minute.” She directs TVB’s involvement in the annual, nationwide PSA Project Roadblock campaign to stop drunk driving during the holiday season. 

Joyce Fitch, Legal Consultant

Joyce Fitch, Esq. was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc., from 2003 through December 31, 2019. She has over thirty years of legal experience, having begun her legal career as a trial attorney with the law firm of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston in Baltimore and later as General Counsel for several national corporations.  Ms. Fitch has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Radio Music License Committee and the Board of Managers of the Broadcaster Traffic Consortium, LLC. In addition, since 2018, Ms. Fitch has served on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Women in Media.  She has also judged the annual Gracie Awards each year since 2016, which recognizes programming designed by women in all facets of media and entertainment.  

Michelle Ray, Executive Director, The Walter Kaitz Foundation

As the Executive Director of the Walter Kaitz Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to providing opportunities for people of color, women and the LGBT+ community in the cable, media and entertainment industries, Michelle Ray is responsible for developing and implementing the Foundation’s strategic direction, initiatives and programmatic activities.  Michelle provides oversight and management of the Foundation’s distribution of targeted grants to the industry’s key diversity organizations and collaborates with these organizations to refine and advance diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives that impacts the media and telecommunications industry. Additionally, she works collaboratively with national organizations that advocate for the social and economic interests of women, ethnic minorities and the LGBT+ communities and connects them with the industry’s member companies to further diversity and inclusion goals.

Sandra Rice, Senior Vice President, Outreach and Strategic Partnerships, Center for Talent Innovation

Sandra Rice is the Senior Vice President of Outreach and Strategic Partnerships at CTI. She has worked in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion for more than two decades, helping thousands of young people of color start their careers. Before joining CTI, Rice was the Senior Vice President, National Recruitment & Leadership Development for the Emma Bowen Foundation (EBF), a nonprofit that provides a pipeline of diverse talent for hire in the media and tech industries. At EBF Rice executed strategic leadership programs that successfully placed more than a thousand college students of color in paid multi-summer internships, leading to full time jobs at more than 70 companies. Many of her protegees are now in leading media roles around the world.

Esther Mireya Tejeda, Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications & PR, Entercom

Esther Mireya Tejeda is Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations at Entercom.  Entercom a leading audio and entertainment company, with a premier collection of 235+ broadcast radio stations, digital audio platforms, live concerts and events, and RADIO.COM.  As Entercom’s founding Head of Corporate Communications and PR, Tejeda was tapped to build the company’s first communications function in 2016 and now leads an award-winning practice overseeing the company’s comprehensive internal and external communications, including business and industry media relations; public relations in support of the company’s local radio stations and digital podcast networks; national event and talent publicity; financial communications; crisis communications and corporate reputation management; social media; and thought leadership.
