2022 Board Slate

The AWM Nominations Committee has put forth the 2022 AWM Board of Directors Slate of Candidates. Please read below to learn more about the directors proposed to join the AWM Board of Directors. To vote for the slate, please use the link in your email from headquarters or email info@allwomeninmedia.org for the link.  Please cast your vote by February 17, 2022.

The following candidates are proposed to begin serving on the AWM Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning in February:

Catherine Badalamente, Vice President & Chief Innovation Officer (Incoming CEO), Graham Media Group

Catherine Badalamente is the Vice President & Chief Innovation Officer for Graham Media Group. In her role, Badalamente oversees digital sales, content, and technology for GMG.

Badalamente has been at the forefront of the changing television landscape and transition to new media throughout her career. Prior to her current role she served as VP, Digital Media since 2012, helping to create successful multi-platform convergent campaigns for clients and stations and was successful at driving growth in both audience and revenue for the group.

Badalamente began her Graham Media Group career in 2000 at WDIV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit. There she held a variety of roles including Director of New Business Development from 2006 to 2010. She began her television career at WKYC, the NBC affiliate in Cleveland as an Account Executive in 1997.

Badalamente is chair of the board of directors of the Local Media Association, and serves as treasurer of the board of directors of the Local Media Foundation. She is immediate past chair of the National Association of Broadcasters Digital Officer Committee, and was the recipient of the National Association of Broadcasters Digital Leadership Award in 2017.

Badalamente is a graduate of John Carroll University with a BA in Communications.

Monica Bloom, VP of Marketing, First Look Media

Monica Bloom is currently VP of Marketing for First Look Media, building effective DTC and B2B marketing campaigns for Topic streaming, Topic Studios, The Intercept, Field of Vision and Press Freedom Defense Fund.

Previous to First Look Media, Monica was SVP, General Manager of startup streaming service, Tribeca Shortlist, a joint venture of Lionsgate Entertainment and Tribeca Enterprises. There she was responsible for the repositioning of the brand and implementing aggressive growth strategies.

Bloom relishes challenges, embraces change and is driven by results. Monica has created effective marketing campaigns, innovative products and impactful partnerships in a number of leadership positions in her career. With over 20 years working in entertainment and content, Monica has worked with some of the most iconic brands. Monica built Bono’s (RED) brand into one of the most valuable CSR brands in the world, developing programs that effectively targeted the hard to reach youth demographic through brand experiences both in situ and virtually. During her time at (RED), over $185 million was generated for AIDS programs in Africa. Monica was the chief architect of the rebranding of SundanceTV that impacted the entire organization both in articulation and behavior and ushered in a new era of programming. In the 3+ years she was at SundanceTV, her marketing leadership resulted in an increased average viewership of more than 50% across all programming with an impressive viewership increase in original programming by 500%. While at Getty Images, Bloom launched their first global integrated campaign across platforms (paid, earned, owned); increased direct search volume by 30%+ in the first six months; increased total subscription revenue by 18% YoY and website traffic by 32%. She was also responsible for multiple high-profile events and partnerships showcased at Cannes Lions, The Future of Storytelling and during the UNGA week.

Monica has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences around the world, is the former President of the Women in Cable Telecommunications New York, a 2012 Fellow of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute and is a founding member of the San Francisco chapter of Chief. She serves on the advisory board of Magnet Media Films and lifestyle brand, Mocktail Nation. Monica is an executive board member of homelessness non-profit, Shood based in Richmond, VA. She began her career in advertising working for top agencies including Ogilvy, The Martin Agency and the Omnicom Group. Bloom is a proud alumna of Clemson University. She lives in San Francisco with her husband Tim and their dog, Cash and is a verified Peloton addict.

Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President of Programming, iHeartMedia; Executive Vice President, Hip Hop and R&B Programming Strategy; and Program Director, WWPR-FM Power 105.1

THEA MITCHEM is a forward-thinking music veteran who has been recognized for her ability to turn creative ideas into entertaining and informative radio programming. Her passion for music has led to a successful 20+ year career pioneering change and breaking down barriers in the media industry. She is an inspirational leader who is committed to coaching, developing and motivating her team of personalities, programmers, producers, and brand marketers. Regarded as one of the “most influential women in the radio industry,” Mitchem’s aptitude for effective decision making, cultivating talent and brand curation has earned her a respected seat at the table.

Currently, as Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia, the leading media company in America with a greater reach in the U.S. than any other radio or television outlet, Mitchem oversees the programming and operations of New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, D.C. Mitchem also serves as the Executive Vice President of Hip Hop & R&B Programming Strategy for iHeartMedia. She is an Executive Producer of iHeartRadio’s Living Black! an audio and visual celebration.  In addition, Mitchem serves as the Program Director for WWPR Power 105.1, New York’s Hip Hop and R&B, home of the nationally syndicated morning show “The Breakfast Club,” with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. Under her leadership, “The Breakfast Club” have become the most-listened-to Hip-Hop and R&B morning show in America.

Mitchem’s expertise across business development, strategic planning and radio programming has allowed her to successfully fulfill diverse roles throughout her career. Previously, she served as President of iHeartMedia’s Washington, D.C. and Baltimore markets. During this time, Mitchem grew revenue and audience share for a diverse portfolio of assets including radio stations, total traffic and weather network, local digital platforms, and live events. She has also served as the Director of Operations for the Philadelphia market. Mitchem began her career in programming with WPGC-FM for CBS Radio in Washington, D.C.

Mitchem holds a B.A. in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University. Mitchem is a Billboard “Women in Music” and Billboard “Hip Hop Power Player” Honoree, and recognized by her industry peers as a Living Legend Honoree and was showcased on the cover of Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio 2019 and was named in Radio Ink magazine’s “Best Program Directors in America” 2021.

Marie Tedesco, Chief Financial Officer, Beasley Media Group

Marie Tedesco was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. on January 1, 2017, previously serving as Vice President of Finance since 1996.  She began her employment with the Company in 1991 as Corporate Controller.

Ms. Tedesco is a native of Sweden, where she attended Olympia College.  After graduating from UCLA with a B.S. degree in finance, she started her radio career in Los Angeles. From 1984 through 1987, she worked in the accounting department of Radio & Records, Inc.  Beginning in 1988, she moved to New York, where she was employed in the accounting department of Westwood One.  In 1989, while still employed by Westwood One, she moved back to Los Angeles where she assisted in launching their Pirate Radio station, KQLZ.

Ms. Tedesco currently serves as Treasurer of the Executive Board of Directors of the Media Finance Management (MFM) Association.
