AWM Connects Program

We are planning the next AWM Connects program! If you would like to be notified when it is scheduled, please email amy.burton@allwomeninmedia.org.

AWM Connects is an exciting virtual mentoring program that will connect young/new professionals with senior level executives throughout television, radio, and digital media.

We provide a virtual event as well as connecting mentees and mentors one-on-one for more in-depth conversations.

Mentors for past AWM Connects programs have been members of the AWM and AWM Foundation Board of Directors as well as high-level executives specifically selected to match up with the mentees that apply for the program.

Praise for the AWM Connects program from Mentees:

“Since graduating from film school I have felt the absence of a mentor who works in the industry and would guide me in my career path. AWM Connects program posed as the perfect opportunity to get to know how mentorship programs work. My mentor recommended some great labs that I could apply to strengthen my portfolio. A lot of them require a letter of recommendation and she agreed to write me one which would automatically make my application stronger.”

Ragini Bhasin, Jubilee Media

“I consider myself to be a hard worker but one thing I’m working on is figuring out how to work smarter. The AWM Connects program offered me the opportunity to get in front of industry leaders and ask fine-tuned, specific questions that will directly help my career moving forward. That insight is invaluable, and I was able to put my mentor’s advice into action immediately. I have a thorough plan in place to take my career to the next level and am now connected to an industry leader who gave me the confidence boost I needed to push through some of the insecurities I’ve allowed to hold me back.”

Lindsay Guentzel, Minnesota Public Radio

“I applied to the AWM Connects program because I wanted to surround myself with a community of supportive women who I admire and who I aspire to be like one day. As I start to navigate my career as a first-generation Latina lawyer, I understand that importance of mentorship and value the advice from women that have paved the way for women like myself. One piece of advice I received from my Mentor is to do something every day that scares you. I really love that advice because it’s a reminder to not let fear get in the way of your goals.”

Daisy Mateo, UC Hastings College of Law

“I was inspired to apply for AWM Connects out of a need for connection and career guidance during these unique times when it’s not always easy to find mentorship, especially working from home. My mentor gave me a great piece of advice which is to do one thing every day that scares you. It’s a great mindset for taking on challenges you normally wouldn’t! The women were very responsive and willing to help and answer questions. They were so generous with their time. It was inspiring to see them so invested in next generation of women in media!”

Colleen O’Neil, CBS/Entertainment Tonight

“The opportunity to network with women across the industry is what inspired me to apply for AWM Connects. Along with networking, the program offers the chance to learn more about the overall media industry from some of the best and brightest. As someone who came to ESPN from the ‘outside’, I’m excited about the positive influence being involved in this group will bring. I left our initial meeting so inspired and excited about connecting with my mentor and everything to come.”
